S HOUSE
Situated in the serene hillsides of La Canada Flintridge, this 1960 Mid-Century single story home was originally designed by noteworthy architect John Galbraith. The residence has been elegantly renovated while still retaining its original architectural charm. The transformation of this house is a masterful balance between contemporary design elements and the preservation of the home's unique character designed by original architect. Upon entering the home, the boundaries between the interior and exterior blur with the open floor plan and large Fleetwood bi-fold doors and transoms, allowing for natural light to flood the space. The home boasts cohesive and timeless finishes, such as brushed nickel and matte black, which lend a sophisticated and contemporary feel to the entire space. The bathrooms are adorned with honed Italian Calcutta Marble, creating a stunning and luxurious ambiance.
The white oak custom joinery in the space is perfectly accented with the addition of walnut cabinetry that reflect the exterior siding, creating a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The show-stopping original fireplace is a focal point of the living area, made of travertine that brings a regal and organic feel to the room. This fireplace inspired the design of the powder room, which has been adorned with travertine slabs, a ceiling detail flooding the backsplash with natural light lending a sense of cohesiveness and refinement to the space. The result is a space that feels both comfortable and contemporary, while still honoring the home's history and heritage. It is a true testament to the artistry of the renovation team and a stunning reflection of the beauty of its surroundings.
